NZ & Australian Embassies Commemorate ANZAC Day
on Sunday April 25th, 2004

Each year at dawn on April 25, the New Zealand Embassy commemorates ANZAC (Australia New Zealand Army Corps)* Day to recognise the sacrifices that New Zealand soldiers have made - not only in defending their country, but also in upholding New Zealand's longstanding commitment to peace and security. To mark this special occasion for 2004, the New Zealand Embassy and the Australian Embassy are co-hosting a program of events to which all are welcome. These include:

Dawn Service

The N.Z. Embassy, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labour and the Australian Embassy, will host a Dawn Service at the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington DC.
 

When:   Sunday, 25 April 2004
Time:   5.45 am - 6.15 am
Where:

Korean Veterans War Memorial, Independence Ave, Washington DC

Dress: Dress for Service Personnel is Service Dress
N.B. Car Parking is available on Ohio Drive, in the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Park, a short walk from the Korean Veterans War Memorial

 

'Gunfire Breakfast' RSVP Required

At the conclusion of the Dawn Service, the New Zealand Embassy, in partnership with the Australian Embassy, will host a 'Gunfire Breakfast'
 

When: Sunday, 25 April 2004
Time: Breakfast served from 6.30am to 9.00am
Where: NZ Embassy, 37 Observatory Circle, NW, Washington DC 20008


$8 per person door charge will be levied to cover cost of breakfast.  Those who would like to attend this breakfast must RSVP to:
anzac@nzdswashington.com or call: (202) 328-4879.

 
Names of all those attending must be provided for security purposes.  

Photo identification will be required for access to the N.Z. Embassy.  

Limited on-street parking will be available on Observatory Circle NW.

 

Commemorative Church Service
The Australian Embassy, in partnership with the New Zealand Embassy, will also
host a Commemorative Service at the Washington Cathedral to mark ANZAC Day.
 
When: Monday, 26 April 2004
Time: 10.30am – 11.00am
Where: The National Washington Cathedral, Massachusetts and Wisconsin Aves, NW
