New Zealand's Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister, The Honorable Phil
Goff, will discuss New Zealand's perspectives on developments in the
Asia-Pacific region, where New Zealand has longstanding security and
economic ties. He will talk about the challenges for a small but active
state of the current international security and economic
environment. In particular Mr. Goff will discuss the initiatives New
Zealand is taking to contribute to the campaign against terrorism,
greater trade liberalization, and support for a rules based
international system.
In the Pacific, New Zealand is current Chair of the Pacific Islands
Forum and knows well the region's challenges and aspirations. As Chair,
New Zealand has overseen a comprehensive review of the Forum which looks
